Grace Weekly - Serve

Second Saturday Serve

Once a month, come as you are for an intergenerational short service opportunity in the Welcome Center or out in the community. Join us for an hour or two and make a difference in someone’s life. Watch the Grace homepage and Grace Weekly email for project details each month.

We are going to delay this Saturday's community service work in order to assess the needs of our community north and east of our area. We are working with The Restoration Team in identifying homes that need to be mucked and gutted after the recent floods. We are going to target Saturday, May 18 and/or Saturday, May 25 as possible work days to help with this disaster effort. If you are interested in participating in this cleanup, please respond to Steve Murphy or Kristy Elmore with which Saturday (18 or 25 or both) is best for you by Monday, May 13.

Disaster Relief

The recent floods have impacted many families in Kingwood, Conroe, and Huntsville. In partnership with The Restoration Team, Grace is mobilizing a team to clean up and help muck out homes and support cleanup effort.

Also, there are bins at the church to collect supplies needed by the people that have been affected by the flooding. Some of the suggested donation items would be water, wipes, diapers, canned food items with pop tops (soup, ravioli, etc.) and shelf-stable foods such as mac 'n cheese cups, cheese crackers, protein bars, meal replacement bars, crackers, and cereal.

June is the start of hurricane season! If disaster strikes, Grace's disaster response webpage is a place to let us know if you are in need of support, available to help others, or know of a friend of family member who is in need of support.

Register HERE for the best week of the summer, June 10-13. Start the Party! Celebrate the Good News!

We can't take on such a big adventure without your help! We need donations to purchase crafts, supplies and snacks to fuel this great big journey. With your donation, hundreds of kids will get to hear about a BIG God who loves them more than they could ever imagine. They will learn how amazing it is to follow Jesus and live the way He taught us. You may make a gift HERE. In addition, the VBS Amazon wishlist is live HERE for you to help with supplies--it is your chance to buy six pounds of rainbow sprinkles!

Meals for Ministries

Help feed our people! Sharing a meal together has long been acknowledged as a wonderful way to spark conversation and make people feel at ease with one another. Many Grace ministries events are centered on that premise. You can help these ministries thrive by providing a meal for the folks participating. The opportunities and complete details can be found HERE. Bookmark that list--currently there are several Student Ministries and vacation Bible School events that could use your help, but as Summer continues and then as new Fall events begins, we will be adding to this list for all of our ministries, so check back often and help out when you can!

Basketball and Burgers

Calling all Grace men!

In partnership with Friends of Westchase, Grace has kicked off a new mentoring program on our campus: Basketball and Burgers! Once a month, a group of caring adult men join with 15 boys from Paul Revere Middle School to share a game of basketball and a meal. Many of the boys are struggling with challenges that include homelessness and food insecurity. By connecting with the boys through a sport they love, the adult mentors are hoping to build long-term trust. The Grace men have had the best time hanging out with the students, shooting hoops, and sharing Whataburger! This summer, we will be mixing things up a bit with basketball as well as some other summer fun activities (ie, gaming night, movie night, etc.) We connect with the youth once a month and meet at Grace! We hope you will join us! For more information, please contact Kristy Elmore.

Tool Drive

Hurricane season starts in June, and flooding is always a threat in the Houston area. Grace wants to be ready to respond to any storm, so we are collecting tools during the month of May! If you have tools you might be willing to donate, new or used, we appreciate your contributions. We will have labeled bins around campus throughout the month. Some suggested items include: hammers, sledge hammers, tape measures, extension cords, goggles, gloves, screwdrivers, pry bars, moisture meters, and first aid kits.
