Grace Weekly

  1. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2024
  2. The best week of the summer is coming soon-- June 10-13. Start the Party! Celebrate the Good News!

We can't take on such a big adventure without your help! We need donations to purchase crafts, supplies and snacks to fuel this great big journey. With your donation, hundreds of kids will get to hear about a BIG God who loves them more than they could ever imagine. They will learn how amazing it is to follow Jesus and live the way He taught us. You may make a gift HERE. In addition, the VBS Amazon wishlist is live HERE for you to help with supplies--it is your chance to buy six pounds of gummy bears!

More than anything, though, we need YOU! There is always room for more adult and teen leaders to help out during the week! We are looking for fun-loving adults (at least 18-years-old) and teenagers (entering seventh grade through entering college in the Fall of 2024) who love the Lord, love children, and are ready for the adventure of a lifetime. A fun and informational training session will be held on Sunday, June 2, from 4-6 p.m. in Massey-Tucker Fellowship Hall. Register HERE.

  3. WOMEN'S SUMMER BIBLE STUDY
  4. Join us for our summer study, Rhythms of Renewal. Each week, June 18-July 16, we will look how to trade stress and anxiety for a life of peace and purpose.

Daily struggles with anxiety and stress make it difficult to receive God’s peace. In Rhythms of Renewal, Rebekah Lyons shares four life-giving rhythms modeled by Jesus that quiet inner chaos and make room for a flourishing life. By taking time to rest, restore, connect, and create, you will discover how to:

    • Take charge of your emotional health and inspire your loved ones to do the same
    • Overcome anxiety by establishing daily habits that keep you mentally and physically strong
    • Find joy through restored relationships in your family and community
    • Walk in confidence with the unique gifts you have to offer the world

The study meets Tuesdays from at 10 a.m.-noon in MT 201.

    Order Rhythms of Renewal HERE!

    Register HERE.

  5. CHURCH OFFICER NOMINATIONS
  6. Each year at Grace, we nominate fellow covenant partners (members) to serve in leadership as elders and deacons. This year's class of new leaders will serve a three-year commitment beginning January 1, 2025.

Grace, an ECO (A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians) congregation, is governed by the Session, which is composed of elders. The deacons provide care ministries to the congregation. Both elders and deacons are vital to the health of the congregation. These positions require different skills, talents, and gifts. Each has unique duties and requires different energies. Both deacons and elders are required to adhere to the ECO Essential Tenets.

We encourage you to give thought to those at Grace with whom you've interacted, and consider if they may be suited to take on one of these roles.  You'll find more information and the nomination forms online HERE. The deadline is Sunday, May 12.

GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK

We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit-- We celebrate what God is doing!

Last Wednesday, Grace Men's Ministry kicked off the new, inter-generational Men's Life Breakfast. Over 50 men arrived at Grace in the pre-dawn hours to enjoy a hot breakfast and some wonderful fellowship time. The guest speaker for the morning was Houston favorite Bill Brown, the television voice of the Houston Astros for 30 seasons before retiring in 2016. Bill shared a few baseball stories, but also shared about his life and faith, and the "two halves of life," explaining how to men can find fulfillment as their children grow up and out and work starts to wind down.

Men's Life will meet the first and third Wednesday of each month. Doors will open at at 6 a.m., meeting in Massey-Tucker Fellowship Hall. Breakfast will be served! Morning will start promptly at 6:15 and we will end by 7:30 a.m. The next breakfast is Wednesday, May 15. Join your brothers for breakfast and register HERE.

WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY

If you are out of town or unable to be here for in-person worship this week, please join us online via livestream HERE.

We continue the sermon series on Galatians this Sunday, looking at Galatians 5:1,13-15.

Sunday is Mother's Day! We'll be celebrating moms and the other significant voices in our lives with some very special music and other treats.  AND we will be celebrating the graduating seniors. More? There is a Children at the Chancel time for the little ones as well and a preview of VBS 2024! A full morning that you will not want to miss.

Newer to Grace? Join us during the Equipping Hour at 11 a.m. next Sunday, May 19, at the Discover Grace Reception so we can get to know each other!

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

The recent floods have impacted many families in Kingwood, Conroe, and Huntsville. In partnership with The Restoration Team, Grace is mobilizing a team to help muck out homes and support cleanup effort. We are going to target Saturday, May 18 and/or Saturday, May 25 as possible work days to help with this disaster effort. If you are interested in participating in this cleanup, please respond to Steve Murphy or Kristy Elmore with which Saturday (18 or 25 or both) is best for you by Monday, May 13.

Also, there are bins at the church to collect supplies needed by the people that have been affected by the flooding. Some of the suggested donation items would be water, wipes, diapers, canned food items with pop tops (soup, ravioli, etc.) and shelf-stable foods such as mac 'n cheese cups, cheese crackers, protein bars, meal replacement bars, crackers, and cereal.

Thanks for your consideration as we as a church body go into the community to help our neighbors!
