Dear Grace Family,

We are grateful for your participation in this season of discernment at Grace Presbyterian Church, Houston. The motion seeking dismissal from PC(USA) to ECO passed with the required 2/3’s vote. Total ballots counted were 1019 representing 51% of our membership. There were 910 votes FOR the motion and 109 AGAINST; to satisfy the 2/3’s requirement 680 votes were needed to carry the motion.

We labored for well over six months in prayer and grace seeking a decision regarding our church’s denominational affiliation. It was inspiring to witness brothers and sisters in Christ “bearing with one another” as God’s holy and beloved children. Thank you for your Christ-like behavior.

Please join the pastors, elders, and staff for a prayer service in The Founders’ Chapel tomorrow, Monday, June 2 at 6:30 p.m. We serve a God that is able to do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. To God be the Glory!

There are many who served and helped with the Discernment Season process. We are grateful and thank the internal and external members of the Discernment Team, the Grace Discernment Serve Team and many members of our church and staff who worked diligently to see us through this season.

Your servants in Christ,

The Session of Grace Presbyterian Church

Meeting Notice

On Wednesday, June 4 at 7:00 p.m. in MTH 101 at Grace, the leadership of the Presbytery of New Covenant will meet with anyone interested in learning about the process for establishing a new church in the PC(USA). This meeting is open to any member of Grace Presbyterian Church (regardless of how or whether they voted) who is interested in exploring the option of forming a new church in the PC(USA). The Presbytery leadership anticipates this to be a 90 minute meeting and is intended as the first of several meetings to determine the level of interest in this option.

40 Days of Prayer
For Our Church
April 22 – June 1

  • June 1 – Day 40 – Psalm 118:24

This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Lord, thank you for this day.

  • May 31 – Day 39 – 1 Peter 2:24

He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by His wounds you have been healed.”
Lord, thank you for the crucified and risen messiah.

  • May 30 – Day 38 – 1 John 4:10

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Lord, how amazing is your love!

  • May 29 – Day 37 – Philippians 1:9

And I pray this, that your love will keep on growing in knowledge and every kind of discernment, so that you can approve the things that are superior and can be pure and blameless in the day of Christ…
Lord, we desire to be pure and blameless.

  • May 27 – Day 36 – Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Lord, let us not look to the gods of this world for wisdom.

  • May 26 – Day 35 – Romans 15:9

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.
Lord, we have a solid rock on which to stand.

  • May 25 – Day 34 – 2 Tim 3:16-17

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Lord, teach us through your perfect word.
