Encore Day Trip
October 11 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Monday, October 11, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Join us as we explore The Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern art exhibit. The Cistern is an underground, former water reservoir in Buffalo Bayou Park now open for history and art tours. Built in 1926, the Cistern was used for decades to hold a large portion of Houston’s public drinking water. A newly commissioned artwork for the Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern by multimedia artist Anri Sala (b. 1974 Tirana, Albania), Time No Longer is now showing and offers an immersive, other-worldly experience of film and sound within this vast, subterranean reservoir on the edge of downtown Houston.
There will be seating available for those who do not wish to walk around the ¼ mile track around the perimeter. We will have two docents for the history tour; one for the walkers and one for the people who choose to sit.
Following the tour we will have a self-funded lunch at Cleburne Cafeteria.
The cost will be determined by the number of people who sign up. We will depart at 9:00 a.m. and return around 2:00 p.m.Please register as soon as possible with Jane MacFarland firstname.lastname@example.org or in the Welcome Center on Sunday.
