A Note from Pastor Julia:
I hope this finds you well and blessed and seeing God’s richest mercies in your life. We are so grateful for all that the Lord did in and through us last year and are excited to see how God will move in the year ahead. In August, we celebrated Grace Presbyterian’s 150th birthday of the establishment of the church, witnessing the legacy of kingdom ministry, life transforming work and hearts that shared the gospel. Thanks be to God for this amazing legacy that we get to continue for the next generation. What a joy it is to see the way that God uses each of us to form His church as we step out to be a difference.
In September, we began our WORSHIP sermon series for this next year on the Westminster Catechism, answering the questions that so many ask as we explore what it means to be a follower of Jesus who steps out and is formed as a disciple. As we abide in His Word, we will look at how our next step, and our response to God’s call and generosity in our lives, can lead to blessings throughout our community and around the world.
At the Ministry Fair, we showed how each ministry area is committed to being EQUIPPED to transform lives as they lead with God’s Word as the driving force for the work they do throughout our communities.
As we look back, we have seen God’s hands at work throughout the Westchase community and around the world as we SERVED though mentoring, working in the community garden, and gathering back-to-school needs in our partnership schools. We built beds for those without a place to sleep as part of our annual Christmas for the City serve day. We have responded to the leading of the Holy Spirit by serving Him locally and globally on mission trips.
Through the year, every generation came TOGETHER through our Young Family socials, Men’s fellowship, Young Adult programs, Abide nights for students, VBS, Encore, and our Sunday services. Bible studies are flourishing along with Christ-centered teaching and genuine community. God continues to bless His church and lives are being transformed.
To prepare our hearts for partnering with the Lord in His Kingdom work in the coming season of generosity, please pray and listen for how God is inviting you to respond. I invite you to add this prayer practice into your daily reading time to hear how God is calling us to respond with our time, talent, treasure, relationships and truth.
As you seek the Lord in prayer and consider how His goodness calls you to live generously, please reflect on these questions:
• Is gathering with God’s people each Sunday a priority for you as you worship Him wholeheartedly and grow as a follower of Christ?
• Are you intentionally investing in your spiritual growth through an Equipping Hour group and regular time in God’s Word so that you are prepared to share the hope of the gospel and faithfully live out your faith?
• Are you using your gifts to serve where God has placed you—in our church, throughout our community, and across the world—as an expression of gratitude for Christ’s love and grace?
• Are you pursuing spiritual growth together with other believers by participating in a discipleship group, Bible study, or another Christ-centered community where you can encourage one another and mature in your faith?
Together, we will have the chance to respond to God’s call as an act of worship in the coming weeks, as we each submit our pledge cards either by mail, online, or in person. Our church family will dedicate these offerings on Sunday, November 15 during worship. I hope you will be there for the celebration, as we use these gifts to continue Christ’s work within our city and around the world.
In His Grip,
Julia Leeth
Senior Pastor
