Grace Weekly

  2. The Covenant Partner Course is our process for learning more about the key theological essentials of Grace, and the vision, the mission, and the strategy of Grace. The course is led by pastors, elders, deacons, and staff and it is our unique way of talking about membership in a congregation. During the course, you will be invited to explore if joining as a “Covenant Partner” is the right next step in your journey of faith in Jesus. Refreshments and drinks will be provided.

The next Covenant Partner course is June 30 at 11 a.m. You may find registration and more details HERE.

  4. Join us in celebrating and commissioning four new Stephen Ministers.

This Sunday during the worship service at 9:30, we will commission Loana Leyva, Ramon Gahona, Rosmeli Gahona, and Pam Pfost as our new Stephen Ministers.

These folks have received 50 hours of specialized training in Christian caregiving and join a team of ten active Stephen Ministers serving our congregation and community. Stephen Ministers provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care to people experiencing a crisis or going through a difficult time. Stephen Ministers meet weekly with their care receiver for around an hour to listen, care, encourage, pray, and provide emotional and spiritual support for the person. Caring relationships last for as long as the person’s need persists.

Please pray for our new Stephen Ministers—ask God to bless their ministry and work through them to bring hope and healing to those whom they serve. Pray also for the ongoing ministry of our current Stephen Ministers.

Test your knowledge of Stephen Ministry with a fun quiz HERE!

  6. Grace is excited to announce a new inter-generational men's breakfast meeting--Men's Life. Men's Life will meet the first and third Wednesday of each month. Doors will open at at 6 a.m. and we will meet in Massey-Tucker Fellowship Hall. Breakfast will be served! Morning will start promptly at 6:15 and we will end by 7:30 a.m.

On July 3, we are excited to welcome back a friend of Grace, Dennis Turnipseed. Dennis is an experienced business executive, having worked with start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, leading and guiding them through mergers and acquisitions, and developing strategies, structures, and transforming corporate cultures.

In 2015, God called Dennis into full-time ministry, and he now serves as Executive Director of Eyes On Me, Inc.

Eyes On Me is a non-profit 501c3 that exists to mentor, disciple, and serve at-risk youth and their families. Their vision is to see communities and neighborhoods that are statistically low-income, high crime, over-looked, and under-served transformed and strengthened through reproducible discipleship and strategic mentoring. Eyes on Me has grown to become a multi-faceted, multi-purpose ministry that serves in some of the country’s most dangerous areas. These areas are notorious for their extreme violence, rampant drug use, and human trafficking. Their goal is to establish a presence in these areas, build relationships, and equip those living within to become productive, loving leaders that inspire change in those around them.

Dennis and his wife, Sally, have been married for 35 years after meeting in college and have three children- Kelly (29), Austin (27) and Kate (19). They currently reside in Richmond, TX. Dennis and his family were members of Grace Presbyterian Church from 1991-2011. While at Grace, Dennis was involved in children’s and youth ministries, the early years of the contemporary services, and the Grace Jazz Band as a trombonist over the full length of his time at Grace.

It will be a great morning! Come join us!

We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit-- We celebrate what God is doing!

We are still basking in the afterglow of another amazing week of Vacation Bible School. God moved mightily throughout the week, touching the lives of the children and leaders alike. Continue to pray that the spark that may have been lit will soon burn brighter, because of the 589 kids that were here, 82% (488) were not Grace members, and 41% (244) of the kids listed no church affiliation at all!

We are thankful for the 153 teens and 175 adult volunteers who shared a big part of their week with VBS, and the numerous behind-the-scenes folks working tirelessly over the last weeks and months to make this week the best of the summer.

Throughout the week, we collected donations to support WHAM and Glocal Missions. Here are the results:
• We collected 762 food items for the WHAM Food Pantry.
• We collected 100 sports balls for the middle schoolers to take on their mission trip to Glocal Missions here in Houston.
• We raised $1644.15 that will be used to purchase 2 basketball goals for Glocal Missions.

VBS 2024 may be over, but the ripples will continue to be felt!

If you are out of town or unable to be here for in-person worship this week, please join us online via livestream HERE.

The sermon series "One Makes a Difference" continues this Sunday, focusing on Acts 11:19-26; Acts 13:2-3; Acts 15:36-41.

Join us at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday. There will be a Children at the Chancel time, we will commission the new Stephen Ministers, and also hear about the latest iteration of The Open Life Project.

The Church Officer Nominating Committee has called for a brief congregational meeting following worship on July 21 to elect an elder to fill an unexpired term in the Elder Class of 2025.
