- SERVE DAY AT PAUL REVERE
Join us for a day of joy, fellowship, and service as we come together to support our local students and teachers! Serve Day at Paul Revere Middle School is Saturday, July 26, 8 a.m.- 2 p.m. We'll gather on campus at Paul Revere to help paint and prepare classrooms for the new school year. While HISD recently painted the hallways, Principal Wiley has asked for our help to give the classrooms a fresh start! Let's show our students they are loved by creating clean, welcoming spaces where they can thrive. Bring your favorite paintbrush and wear clothes you don't mind getting messy! No experience needed--just a willing heart and a few hours of your time. Snacks and drinks will be provided! Let us know you're coming! Sign up HERE, or for more information, contact Kristy Elmore.
- EMERGENCY CONTACTS
As you may be aware, Grace has a Disaster Response Team that monitors events which may impact our Grace family. Here is how the process works:
If such an event occurs, we want to be prepared, as a Grace community, to come together and support one another. Once a disaster response is initiated, Grace deacons are responsible for contacting each Covenant Partner household to determine whether any members of the household have been impacted. The protocol is to establish contact with at least one adult in each household to ascertain their status and assess any potential needs. The information gathered is then communicated to the Disaster Response Team for triage and appropriate response.
If a deacon is unable to reach any adults in the household, the next step is to reach out to an emergency contact—an adult who does not live in the household but would likely know your status during an emergency. It would be a tremendous help to our deacons if you would provide an emergency contact for our database using the form found HERE. The information will only be shared with members of the Disaster Response Team.
- YOUNG ADULT WORSHIP NIGHT
GPCH Young Adult Worship Night will be happening on August 4, 7-8:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center. Anyone 18-35, single or married, is welcome to join for a night of worship and reflection of God's goodness in every season. If you have any questions or would like more information, reach out to Kaylie Baudin, join the young adults groupme!
GOOD NEWS OF THE WEEK
We celebrate the things that we have offered to God that are bearing fruit-- We celebrate what God is doing! When Pastor Chris French left earlier this year, we made some shifts to cover the responsibilities until we could implement a more comprehensive staffing strategy. We have evaluated our ministry needs and have decided to hire an Equipping Pastor with a broader focus, in addition to providing strategic leadership to all our adult ministries and family ministries. In this light, we have extended a call to The Rev. John Pflug. John brings a wealth of experience in ministry, a deep passion for serving the community, and a heart for spiritual leadership. His first day in the office will be September 2. John and his family will be arriving in Houston mid-August from Wilmington, North Carolina.
John graduated from Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, and received his Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin. His first call as a pastor was at First Presbyterian Church of Winnsboro, TX, where he served for five years. During the time he was at First Presbyterian, he also served as the mayor of Winnsboro for two years. In September of 2015, John and his family were called to Windermere Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, North Carolina, where he has been their pastor for the last ten years.
John and Brittany met while attending Texas Lutheran University and have been married for 18 years. Brittany is a teacher's assistant for children who need extra help with behavior and socialization skills. They have three children, Emma (15 years old), Kilaeah (12 years old), and Zayne (10 years old). Emma loves being on the cheerleading team, Kilaeah enjoys cross-country and volleyball, and Zayne is a basketball player. John and his family are very excited to be back in Texas. His love for the Lord comes through in his desire for the opportunity to guide, watch, and see people grow in their knowledge, love, and intimacy with the Lord.
Please be praying for them as they make this big move, and please be praying for us as we receive them well. God is so good!
WORSHIP THIS SUNDAY
If you are out of town or unable to be here to worship in-person this week, please join us online via livestream HERE. This Sunday, we will continuing the sermon series on Zechariah, looking into Zechariah 9:9-17. There will be a Children at the Chancel time and we will hear a Story of Grace during the service. Equipping Hour classes and the summer Preacher's Class begin at 11 a.m. See you Sunday at 9:30 a.m.! __________ We often hear about “time” as one of the aspects of Generous Living. An easy way to contribute your time is to consider joining the team of ushers at Grace. This necessary service provides a rewarding opportunity to meet and greet the members of the family of Grace. Please reach out to Harold Silver (713-304-0436) or Richard Raines (281-658-8114) with questions or to express an interest in serving as an usher.
FINANCIAL UPDATE
As stewards of His gifts, it's important to know where we stand financially as a church. As always, your faithfulness to your pledge and the ministry of Grace and His Kingdom is greatly appreciated. You may present your gifts or set up a pledge online HERE. This is also the link to revise your pledge if you have been prayerfully reviewing The 5:10:5 Plan. 2025 Collections Goal $2,800,000
Actual 2025 collections to date $1,451,446 (as of 6/30/25) Amount needed prior to year end $1,348,554
The amount collected over the same period last year was $1,436,923, so comparing last year to 2025, we see a 1% increase, or $14,523. The budget for January to April 2025 was $1,388,000, so the $1,436,923 collected represents a 4.6% increase over budget ($63,446).
